The Chinese Navy has commissioned its third aircraft carrier — "Fujian". Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the ceremony confirming the ship's entry into active service.
The aircraft carrier was fully designed and built in China, and it is equipped with electromagnetic catapults for launching carrier-based aircraft. In test mode, J-15T and J-35 fighter jets, as well as KJ-600 early warning aircraft, have taken off from the ship.
"Fujian" is considered China's first aircraft carrier equipped with electromagnetic catapults. Construction of the ship began in late autumn 2018 and, after four years, it was launched.
The carrier can accommodate various carrier-based fighters such as the J-15 and J-35. It should be noted that besides "Fujian," the Chinese Navy also includes two other aircraft carriers: "Liaoning" and "Shandong".
"Liaoning" was originally built during the Soviet era and converted from Ukraine's "Varyag" (formerly "Riga") ship, while "Shandong" was built based on its design. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
