Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office has issued an arrest warrant for 37 individuals, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This was reported by the Anadolu news agency.
They are accused of crimes against humanity and genocide. The list also includes Israel’s Defense Minister Yisroel Katz and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
According to the office’s information, as a result of actions taken by the Israeli government in the Gaza Strip, women and children have been killed and many people injured. In addition, some areas have become uninhabitable.
"Israeli officials are responsible for crimes against humanity and systematic acts of genocide carried out in the Gaza Strip, as well as for measures taken against the Sumud global flotilla," the prosecutor’s statement read. Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, commenting on the Istanbul initiative, called it a PR move by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
He accused the Turkish judicial system of engaging in the suppression of political opponents and the arrest of journalists. At the same time, the Palestinian movement HAMAS, expressing gratitude to Istanbul, acknowledged the high position of the Turkish people and its leadership, CNN reports.
