The Pakistani Taliban movement has claimed responsibility for a bombing near a courthouse in Islamabad, AFP reports. According to the latest information, at least 12 people were killed and another 27 were injured in the incident.
According to the group's representatives, their primary targets were judicial system personnel, including judges, lawyers, and officials. They stated that these individuals operate under laws that contradict Islamic principles.
The Taliban representatives emphasized that they will continue attacks until Sharia law is fully implemented in the country. The explosion occurred during the daytime.
Pakistan's Ministry of Interior reported that a suicide bomber initially attempted to enter the building but failed. The explosive device detonated on the street near a police patrol vehicle.
Earlier, the government immediately linked the incident to the Taliban movement, but initially, the group's leaders denied the allegations. Shortly before this event, on November 10, another suicide attack took place in Pakistan's northwest.
In that incident, an armed group attempted to take cadets of a military college hostage, but security forces managed to intervene and halt the operation. The Taliban was also held responsible for that attack, but the group representatives denied involvement.
