On February 3, 9 prisoners attempted to escape from a maximum security colony in the city of Vahdat, Tajikistan. They attacked the guards of the institution using improvised weapons. This was reported by "Khovar" with reference to the Public Relations Center of the Main Department of Criminal Enforcement of the Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan.
As a result of the attack, three employees of the colony were seriously injured.
"The prisoners, disobeying the lawful demands of the institution administration, continued their criminal activities without any complaints or conditions, using improvised sharp and razor-sharp iron knives. They tried to kill the guards of the institution and escape," the report says.
The guards took action in accordance with the law and service instructions and opened fire on the attackers. As a result, three criminals were killed, and the rest were arrested.
The victims were reportedly provided with medical assistance, and their health is “normal.” The institution’s security and protection system has been fully restored.
It is worth recalling that in May 2019, prisoners rioted in this same institution: 30 prisoners armed with knives and cutting tools took three employees hostage and then killed them. Then, in order to intimidate others, they executed five more prisoners.
