Number of Women Paying Child Support Is Increasing
A new trend is emerging in Uzbekistan regarding child upbringing and financial support. According to official data, currently 3,500 women in the country are paying child support for their children.

Such cases typically occur when the responsibility of raising the child is assigned to the father by court decision or mutual agreement. That is, when custody is granted to the father, the obligation to provide financial support falls on the mother.

In recent years, the number of cases related to child support obligations has been on the rise. Now, there is also an increase in the number of women paying child support. This, in turn, indicates a more equal distribution of parenting responsibilities between mothers and fathers.

Experts believe this situation reflects the need to approach the role of mothers not from a one-sided perspective, but on the basis of equality. Whether it is the father or the mother, both parents are responsible for the child’s well-being.

Recent legislative updates in the legal field also prioritize the best interests of the child. The law on the protection of children's rights states that the parent who is not raising the child must provide financial support.

The fact that 3,500 women in Uzbekistan are paying child support confirms that these norms are gradually being implemented in practice.
