Reports have spread on social networks that wearing medical masks has been made mandatory in Tashkent schools. The Ministry of Health commented on this information and stated that wearing masks is not mandatory in Tashkent schools.
Officials recommend masks only if there are sick children in the classrooms or in situations where the risk of infection is high. Nurmat Atabekov, the first deputy chairman of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Peace Committee, assessed the decision adopted by the chief sanitary doctor on September 26 as a routine seasonal measure.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that the issue of wearing masks will be decided locally depending on the situation. The published document is not about introducing new rules, but is just a reminder of precautionary measures.
