
The gross regional product of Samarkand region has increased from 23 trillion soums in 2016 to 120 trillion soums this year. This was announced by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“In short, we have transformed Samarkand into an attractive region – not only for residents and entrepreneurs but also for tourists and investors,” the president stated. Over the past eight years, $12 billion in investments have been made into the region.
A total of 600,000 permanent jobs have been created, and the number of entrepreneurs has doubled. The number of manufacturing enterprises has increased by 1.5 times, while industrial production has grown by 1.7 times.
Currently, 81 enterprises in the region have an annual turnover exceeding 100 billion soums. Investors from 55 countries are now active in the region.
The number of foreign-invested enterprises has reached nearly 700. The services sector has been growing by approximately 15% annually, with its volume expected to reach 75 trillion soums this year.
By 2024, and during the past 10 months of this year, 15 million square meters of residential and commercial properties have been constructed. Builders from Samarkand are constructing 4.5 million square meters of buildings across the country annually.
