Arsenal thrash Portsmouth in FA Cup Round of 32

In the FA Cup Round of 32, Premier League leaders Arsenal faced Championship side Portsmouth. Despite conceding an early goal, the visitors claimed a big win thanks to a superb hat-trick from Pepe Martinelli.

The match was played on 11 January at London’s Fratton Park. Portsmouth’s only goal was scored by Bishop in the 3rd minute. Arsenal replied with Dozzell’s own goal in the 8th minute, followed by Martinelli’s strikes in the 25th, 51st and 72nd minutes to win 4–1. Madueke also missed a penalty in the 42nd minute.

Portsmouth started with Bursik, Devlin, Poole, Shaughnessy, Swanson, Dozzell, Leroux, Segecic, Chaplin, Blair and Bishop. Arsenal’s starting XI featured Arrizabalaga, White, Nyorgor, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri, Merino, Eze, Madueke, Martinelli and Jesus.

During the game, Leroux (55’) and White (68’) were booked. Arsenal thus underlined their Premier League favourite status in the FA Cup as well, leaving fans with positive emotions.
