Amorim eyes a return to Portugal: which club could he manage

Reports say Ruben Amorim, whose spell at Manchester United has ended, is being offered a new coaching role. Although the Portuguese coach failed to meet many expectations during his time in England, his future does not appear to be settled yet.
Despite the criticism, Amorim is widely expected to return to the Portuguese league. According to Talksport, Benfica see him as the leading candidate for the head coach position. Interest is growing as current boss Jose Mourinho’s future remains uncertain.
Mourinho’s contract reportedly includes an option to leave the club in the summer of 2026, and it could be triggered if he accepts an offer to manage the Portugal national team. In that case, Benfica would be forced to begin searching for a new head coach to pursue their objectives.
Amorim has a special connection with Benfica, as he is a product of the club and played for the first team in 1994–1998 and 2008–2017. As a coach, he has secured many wins while working at Casa Pia, Braga and Sporting.
A return to Portugal and a new job could mark a fresh chapter in Amorim’s career.
