New head appointed to the Journalists Union of Uzbekistan

There has been a change in leadership at the Journalists Union of Uzbekistan. Shukhrat Orif has been appointed as the acting chairman of the organization. Kholmurod Salimov, who held this position until today, will now continue his activities as the acting first deputy chairman of the Union.
Shukhrat Orif was born in 1981 in the Uchkuprik district of the Fergana region. He graduated from the National University of Uzbekistan and the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Throughout his career, Shukhrat Orif has worked in various fields, and prior to this appointment, he served as the head of the press service of the Business Development Bank.
The new leader is known not only in journalism but also in literature. His books titled “Men asli odammas, yor edim” and “Shom tovushi” have been published. He is also a participant of the 15th International Turkish Poetry Festival held in Turkey in 2022. He was awarded the “Shukhrat” medal for his services in the fields of literature and journalism.
It should be noted that Kholmurod Salimov had been serving as the acting chairman of the Journalists Union after Olim Usarov moved to the administration.
