Stratos campus to be built in Utah consuming the power of the entire state

A new data center campus called "Stratos" has been approved for construction in Box Elder County, Utah, aimed at artificial intelligence technologies. It is expected to consume 9 GW of power, equivalent to the current total energy needs of the entire state. The project, led by investor Kevin O'Leary's company O'Leary Digital, will operate autonomously and initially require 3 GW of power, generated through a connection to a major gas pipeline. Local government has offered unprecedented tax incentives, including a reduction in energy tax from 6% to 0.5% and a refund of 80% of property taxes, while the campus is projected to generate over $100 million annually for the county and create 2,000 permanent jobs.
The construction of the "Stratos" data center, one of the largest facilities designed for artificial intelligence technologies, has been approved in the US state of Utah. Located in Box Elder County, this campus is expected to consume 9 GW of power in the future. Ixbt.com reports on this.
This figure is equivalent to the current total energy demand of the entire state of Utah.
The project is being developed by "O'Leary Digital", a company owned by investor Kevin O'Leary. The complex is planned to operate in a fully autonomous mode.
In the initial phase, it will require 3 GW of power. Electricity will be generated directly at the facility by connecting to a major gas pipeline running through the northern part of the state.
Local authorities have provided unprecedented tax incentives for the project. Specifically, the energy tax has been reduced from 6 percent to 0.5 percent, and 80 percent of property taxes will be refunded to the developer.
Despite this, the complex is expected to bring more than $100 million in annual revenue to the county budget and create 2,000 permanent jobs.
Kevin O'Leary emphasized that this project is part of a global race for artificial intelligence infrastructure. It is intended to be the United States' response to the large-scale investments being made by China into energy and data centers.
