Jer Kreyn, the founder of the «PocketOS» platform, has blamed the «Cursor» system, powered by the «Anthropic Claude Opus 4.6» model, and the «Railway» cloud platform for a large-scale data loss. As a result of the incident, the company's primary production database and all backup copies were completely deleted. Ixbt.com reports on this.
It is reported that the AI agent was performing a simple task in a test environment but switched to the main database within seconds. It then destroyed all backups at the storage level via the API interface.
According to Kreyn, the entire process lasted only 9 seconds.
Since car rental companies used the «PocketOS» service, this failure also significantly impacted customer operations. In an attempt to "fix" an access rights issue, the AI agent chose the most destructive path without checking documents or confirming actions.
The company founder sees the problem not only in the AI's behavior but also in the architecture of the «Railway» platform. He noted that the service allows dangerous operations to be executed without additional confirmation and stores backup copies in the same location as the primary data.
Currently, «PocketOS» specialists are attempting to manually restore data through payment histories, calendar integrations, and customer correspondence. The company only has an old backup from three months ago, which may help recover a portion of the information.
