
On November 10, 2025, the international charity run — Samarkand Marathon–2025 — took place in Samarkand, at Registan Square. The event was organized within the framework of UNESCO’s 43rd General Conference and brought together thousands of participants from various parts of the world.
Over 8,000 runners from 53 countries participated at the start of the marathon. Participants were offered distances of 5, 10, 21.1, and 42.2 kilometers.
The total prize fund for the main marathon amounted to 75 million UZS: winners of the first place received 30 million UZS, second place 25 million UZS, and third place 20 million UZS. In the 42.2-kilometer race, the absolute winner among men was Shohruh Davlatov from Surkhandarya, while among women, the first place was secured by Kenyan Jasinta Chepkoyech.
In the half-marathon distance, Russian runners Rinas Akhmadiev and Sofya Kameneva became the winners. In the 10-kilometer race, Japanese athlete Yuta Shitara and Russian athlete Anastasiya Slichenkova took the lead.
In the shortest distance of 5 kilometers, Uzbek runners Alisher Akhmedullayev and Darya Andropova claimed first place.
