On December 26, Samarkand International Airport welcomed its 1.5 millionth passenger for the year, setting a record result for 2025. Air Marakanda’s press service told Kursiv Uzbekistan.
The 1.5 millionth passenger was Muhabbat Shodieva, a resident of the Oqdaryo district in Samarkand region. She flew on Pobeda Airlines’ Samarkand–Moscow flight.
As part of the award ceremony, gifts provided by Pobeda and Air Marakanda were also raffled among passengers on this flight.
Recall that since late October, Samarkand Airport has switched to the autumn-winter flight season. During this year’s spring-summer period, the airport served more than 900,000 passengers, ensuring annual growth of 7%.
Last season, the airport’s route network was expanded: Ural Airlines launched flights to Krasnoyarsk, while Azimuth Airlines started services to Samara and Krasnodar. Direct flights by AZAL Airlines to Baku, Qazaq Air to Astana (via Turkistan), and China Southern Airlines to Urumqi were also resumed.
