New Reservoir to Be Built in Sirdarya

A new reservoir to be built in Sirdarya region
A new reservoir with a capacity of 100 million cubic meters, named “Sultonkhovuz,” is planned to be built in the Sirdarya region. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a session of the regional council.

This facility will provide water for the agricultural sector in five districts of Sirdarya region, enabling farmers to harvest crops twice a year.

The President also instructed to begin the phased cleaning of 16,000 kilometers of drainage canals. Additionally, a pilot project to reduce soil salinity in the region is planned.

It should be noted that Uzbekistan plans to install “smart” meters on its reservoirs. The country is set to digitize its water management system and introduce real-time online monitoring of water levels in artificial reservoirs.
