US President Donald Trump's advisers are preparing for a third impeachment trial after the November 2026 midterm elections, if Democrats win a majority in the House of Representatives. This was reported by Axios.
It turns out that the Trump administration is trying to implement its proposals and projects through Congress as quickly as possible before the threat of impeachment arises. In particular, one of the main goals will be to reduce taxes.
Although the House of Representatives is currently controlled by Republicans, this situation may change depending on the results of the midterm elections. For this reason, Democrats have already expressed their readiness to launch impeachment proceedings against Trump for the third time. In particular, Congressman Shri Thanedar from Michigan openly stated this on April 28.
Trump's campaign manager John McLaughlin noted that the main task for the administration before the elections is to ensure economic stability: "We must reduce taxes and avoid an economic recession."
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant also spoke earlier about the risk of impeachment after the midterm elections: "If we lose the midterm elections, the Democrats will immediately rush to find a reason against us and impeach us."
As is known, Trump is the only president in US history to be impeached twice. Therefore, according to Axios, the president and his advisers are well aware of how difficult and complicated this process will be.
However, one of Trump's close advisers said that the president's approach to the impeachment process has changed: "Oh, another impeachment? They announced it twice and it didn't work. So it's possible to go through this again."
For information, a simple majority vote in the House of Representatives is required to impeach a US president, but 67 out of 100 senators are required to vote to remove the president from office. This has never happened in US history. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
