Venezuela’s local media report that the United States has launched a military operation on the country’s territory. Reuters notes that on Saturday morning, witnesses in Caracas said aircraft appeared in the sky, loud sounds resembling powerful explosions were heard, and columns of smoke were seen. This was reported by kursiv.uz.reports.
According to them, power was cut in some areas in the south of the city near a major military base. Venezuelan authorities have not yet issued a statement on the nature and causes of the incident.
Amid these reports, earlier remarks by US President Donald Trump are again being discussed. He has repeatedly not ruled out the possibility of a ground operation in Venezuela as part of efforts to pressure Nicolás Maduro and force him to step down.
Washington’s statements say the US approach in the region has included expanding sanctions, increasing military presence, and carrying out more than twenty strikes on vessels alleged to be linked to drug smuggling in the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
