Zelensky comments on US actions in Venezuela

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on reports that the United States detained Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and removed them from the country. Zelensky described the move as follows: “What can I say. If dictators can be treated like this, the United States knows what to do next.”

Zelensky did not want to specify whom exactly he meant, but some Ukrainian outlets suggest he was referring to Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that due to the falsification of Venezuela’s presidential election and the use of force against protesters, Ukraine does not recognize the legitimacy of Nicolás Maduro’s regime.

In his social media post, he wrote: “In line with the fundamental principles of international law, we support development that prioritizes democracy, human rights, and the interests of Venezuelans.”

These remarks offer fresh insights into how other countries are responding to Venezuela’s political situation, as well as the latest shifts in the global political landscape.
