Kazakhstan bans egg imports for six months
Kazakhstan has introduced a temporary restriction on the import of fresh chicken eggs into the country, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The import ban will be in effect for six months. Zakon.kz reported on this matter.
The document states that the decision was made based on an order "On prohibiting the import of fresh chicken eggs into the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan." According to this order, the import of fresh eggs will be temporarily suspended from third countries and member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) via all types of transport.
However, an exception has been made for transit shipments. Specifically, the movement of egg products through the territory of Kazakhstan between EAEU countries is not subject to the restriction.
This decision officially came into force on April 21 and will remain in effect for six months.
Experts and representatives of the poultry industry note that egg prices in Kazakhstan fluctuate several times throughout the year. Typically, prices decrease during the summer season due to lower demand, as consumers opt for fruits and vegetables instead of eggs. In the autumn months, producers are compelled to slightly increase prices to compensate for summer losses.
It is speculated that this restriction is aimed at supporting domestic producers in the internal market and maintaining price stability. Read “Zamin” on Telegram! Ctrl
