Iran announced that it has withdrawn its decision to open the Strait of Hormuz
In brief

Iran has announced its decision to reverse a previous plan to open the Strait of Hormuz, as confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces. This reversal is attributed to ongoing U.S. pressure and blockade measures targeting Iranian ports. The move follows warnings from Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf that access to the strategic waterway would be reconsidered if the siege on its ports continued.

Tehran announced that it had withdrawn from the previously announced decision to open the Strait of Hormuz. Information about this was confirmed by the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces and circulated through the Fars agency.

According to reports, this decision was caused by ongoing pressure and blockade measures by the US against Iranian ports.

Earlier, in a statement on social media, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bakir Ghalibaf, stated that the issue of opening the Strait of Hormuz would be reconsidered if the blockade policy around the ports was not stopped.

At the same time, the Tasnim agency previously reported that Iran had opened this strategically important waterway under certain conditions.

The current decision indicates that the situation around the strait has become more complicated against the backdrop of regional tensions.
