The strong earthquake in Afghanistan was also felt in Uzbekistan

On April 18, an earthquake was recorded in Afghanistan. This was reported by the Republican Center for Seismic Monitoring.

According to experts, the earthquake occurred at 07:54 local time. Its epicenter was located in the Badakhshan region, about 537 kilometers southeast of Tashkent. The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.5, and the depth of the epicenter was 150 kilometers.

The earthquake was also felt in the neighboring territory of Uzbekistan. It was felt with a strength of 2-3 points, especially in the Surkhandarya region. Also, in the Fergana region, Jizzakh region, Samarkand region, Syrdarya region, Kashkadarya region, Andijan region, Namangan region and Tashkent region, the earthquake was observed at a level of about 2 points.

It was also noted that the earthquake was felt in the capital city of Tashkent at a slight level — around 2 points.

According to preliminary data, no reports of destruction or casualties have been received as a result of the incident.
