Disney’s animated film “Zootopia 2” continues to rake in millions at the box office. The movie has reached $1.588 billion worldwide and is expected to cross the $1.6 billion mark in the coming days. This has made it Disney’s highest-grossing animated film ever. Playground.ru reportsreports.
One of the film’s biggest successes came from the Chinese market: “Zootopia 2” has grossed over $600 million there, becoming the most successful Hollywood release in China. The only rival that could potentially come close in the local box-office race is said to be “Avatar: Fire and Ash” — it has earned more than $100 million in China. Another record: “Zootopia 2” became the fastest PG-rated film to reach $1 billion — just 17 days after its premiere.
The sequel to the 2016 hit joined the list of three films in 2025 that surpassed $1 billion worldwide. The list also includes the “Lilo & Stitch” remake ($1.03 billion) and the Chinese film “Nezha,” which leads the global box office with $2.2 billion.
At the same time, heated debates about the film’s quality are unfolding online: some users sharply criticize the huge grosses of both installments, calling them an “overhyped” project. Against this backdrop, the fan debate over “which animated film is the best” has flared up again.
