On January 30, Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a wreath at the monument to Islam Karimov in Tashkent, the presidential press service reported.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, the Presidential Administration and the government, intellectuals, and the city community.
"This is a sign that service to the people and homeland will not be forgotten and will always be honored," the report says.
According to the press service of the head of state, thanks to the attention of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the memory of the first president was immortalized, and his birthday, January 30, was celebrated annually. A scientific and educational memorial complex was created in Tashkent. It has become a tradition to visit the Mausoleum of Islam Karimov during visits to Samarkand.
"This is a lesson and example for future generations. Such respect and solidarity were demonstrated at the ceremony," the report said.
During the event, verses from the Quran were read and prayers were offered. The deeds and virtues of the first president for the benefit of the people were remembered.
