In 2026, the number of meningococcal infection cases in the country is showing a slight upward trend. According to the Sanitary-Epidemiological Committee, the situation is under control, and no acute epidemiological threat is observed.

A total of 174 cases were registered across the republic in the first quarter of the year. A notable aspect requiring attention is that the majority of these, specifically 168 cases, occurred among children under 14 years of age.

At the same time, specialists emphasize a positive shift in the dynamics. Notably, cases of illness in April decreased by 14% compared to March. This indicates that preventive measures are yielding results.

Extensive measures are being implemented to curb the spread of the infection. Specifically, the committee has purchased 8,024 doses of vaccine, and at-risk populations are being vaccinated. A total of 4,862 individuals who had contact with patients have also undergone preventive vaccination.

Furthermore, chemical prophylaxis measures are being implemented under medical supervision for individuals with medical contraindications. This plays a crucial role in breaking the chain of disease transmission.

Meningitis is a dangerous infection characterized by inflammation of the membranes of the brain and spinal cord. It can develop rapidly, often due to bacterial or viral agents, and can leave severe complications.

Specialists remind the public to adhere to several important recommendations. These include timely vaccination, strict adherence to personal hygiene rules, and seeking immediate medical attention upon the appearance of illness symptoms. Additionally, increased caution in public places and vaccination before undertaking Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages are advised.

In conclusion, the Sanitary-Epidemiological Committee states that the epidemiological situation in the country remains stable. Efforts to prevent the spread of the infection are continuing systematically and consistently.
