Another case of corruption in the construction sector has been uncovered in the Namangan region. Illegal activities by officials were identified during rapid operations conducted by law enforcement agencies.
It was revealed that two chief specialists of the Main Administration of Construction and Housing and Communal Economy of the Namangan region acted in collusion. They demanded a large sum of money from an entrepreneur in exchange for securing construction permits, architectural planning assignments, and approval of project documents for a two-story non-residential building located in the Yangi Namangan district.
According to sources, the officials requested a total of 22,000 US dollars for their services and had previously received 7,000 US dollars in March of this year.
Subsequently, during a special operation conducted by State Security Service officers in cooperation with the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office, one of the suspects was caught red-handed while receiving the remaining 15,000 US dollars. He was detained with physical evidence during the operation.
Additionally, it was reported that the second chief specialist involved in this criminal case was also detained in accordance with procedural regulations.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and investigative proceedings are currently underway. Relevant authorities are expected to provide a final legal assessment of all circumstances.
