Blackmailer demanding $10,000 detained in Kokand

Law enforcement in Kokand arrested a 24-year-old man for attempting to extort $10,000 from an acquaintance by threatening to leak sensitive personal information. The suspect was caught red-handed during a sting operation while receiving the demanded funds in the city's "Ghoziyoghliq" neighborhood. Authorities have since launched a criminal case under Article 165 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to extortion. An investigation is currently underway to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
An extortion case has been uncovered in the city of Kokand, Fergana region. As a result of an operational measure conducted by law enforcement agencies, an individual who blackmailed an acquaintance was detained, according to a report by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It was established that a young man, born in 2000, obtained personal and confidential information regarding a citizen he had known previously. Using this information, he threatened to discredit the victim by making their private secrets public.
The suspect demanded 10,000 US dollars from the victim in exchange for keeping the information private. Facing psychological pressure and threats, the citizen reported the situation to the relevant authorities.
During the special operation conducted in the "Goziyogliq" neighborhood of Kokand, the suspect was caught with material evidence while receiving the demanded funds.
A criminal case has been initiated against the individual under Article 165 of the Criminal Code (Extortion). Investigative measures are currently ongoing.
