Reports are circulating regarding a sharp increase in meningitis cases among children in Uzbekistan. Experts are assessing the situation as serious and urging the public to exercise caution.
According to the latest data, a total of 174 cases have been recorded, 168 of which involve children. This indicates that the disease is spreading particularly rapidly among the youth.
Physicians emphasize that meningitis is a dangerous disease that develops very quickly and damages the central nervous system. In some instances, the window for effective intervention is measured in minutes rather than hours.
To date, nearly 5,000 contact persons have received emergency vaccinations to prevent further spread of the disease. This measure is playing a crucial role in controlling the epidemiological situation.
