Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed the extensive reconstruction work being carried out at the Maqdum Azam Complex located in the Akdarya district of Samarkand region. The project to enhance the pilgrimage site was presented to the President in March this year.
The complex spans nearly 5 hectares, where the reconstruction of the mausoleum is underway. A three-story parking facility and a large mosque capable of accommodating up to 1,000 people at once are also under construction.
Once all works are completed, the complex will be able to host up to 35,000 visitors simultaneously, which is seven times its previous capacity. Additionally, more than 40 retail and service establishments will become operational within the complex area, and perennial trees will be planted in the park zone.
