
Alisher Sultanov has been relieved of his duties as the Presidential Envoy on Energy Security Issues of Uzbekistan. The corresponding decree was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
He held this position from July to December of 2025. Prior to this, he served as the Presidential Advisor on Energy Security Issues.
From 2013 to 2018, Alisher Sultanov held leadership positions within the “Uzbekneftegaz” system. Between 2019 and 2022, he headed the Ministry of Energy.
Born in 1967, Alisher Sultanov is a Doctor of Technical Sciences and graduated from the A. F. Mozhaysky Military Space Academy in 1989. During the 1990s, he worked at the Institute of Applied Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, where he held organizational roles.
Later, he transitioned to the oil and gas sector, overseeing major projects of “Uzbekneftegaz,” including the Bukhara Oil Refinery and the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex, coordinating procurement and construction activities. From 1999 to 2013, he managed the construction department of the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex and subsequently served as its director.
