On February 1, at approximately 10:30 a.m. local time, a serious traffic accident occurred near Antalya. According to preliminary information, a passenger bus belonging to the Buzlu Tourism company lost control at a turn, crashed into roadside obstacles, and then fell into a ditch.
According to local services, 8 people died at the scene, and another 26 were injured to varying degrees. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals in ambulances for treatment.
The most painful aspect is that some passengers were trapped inside the bus after the accident. Firefighters and AFAD teams participated in the rescue operations, pulling people out of the metal structures.
Hulusi Shahin, who arrived at the scene, said that the pavement was wet after the rain on the road, and fog fell at that time. At the same time, he emphasized that this area is not for speeding, adding that the exact reasons will be known after the investigation.
Subsequent reports indicate an increase in casualties: after the driver died in the hospital, the death toll has risen to nine.
An official investigation into the incident has been launched.
