The number of deaths is increasing in Uzbekistan

In Uzbekistan, the number of people who passed away in 2025 amounted to 177,104. According to data provided by the National Statistics Committee, this figure increased by 2.7 thousand compared to 2024.

Over the course of one year, 55.1 percent of those who died were men (97.5 thousand people), and 45.9 percent were women (81.4 thousand). It was also noted that 54.1 percent of the deceased were residents of urban areas (95.7 thousand people), while 45.9 percent were residents of rural areas (81.4 thousand people).

When the causes of death were analyzed, it is reported that citizens most often died due to diseases of the circulatory system. It is emphasized that in the country, more than half of all deaths each year occur precisely because of diseases of the circulatory system. In the last quarter of 2025, the number of deaths due to this factor exceeded 104 thousand people. In the following places, tumor diseases, respiratory diseases, and other types of illnesses caused deaths.

Goal until 2030 and life expectancy dynamics

In Uzbekistan, it has been set as a goal to raise the average life expectancy of the population to 78 years by 2030. In the National Statistics Committee data, the dynamics of the average life expectancy of the permanent population by years were presented as follows:

-In 1991 — 66.4 years;
-In 1995 — 69.1 years;
-In 2000 — 70.8 years;
-In 2005 — 71.8 years;
-In 2010 — 73 years;
-In 2015 — 73.6 years;
-In 2020 — 73.4 years;
-In 2023 — 74.7 years;
-In 2024 — 75.1 years.

In August 2025, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking at the праздничной ceremony held in connection with Independence Day, noted that in recent years the funds allocated for healthcare have increased sixfold, and as a result of improving living conditions of the population, the average life expectancy indicator has increased from 73.8 years to 75.1 years.
