The Tashkent City Administration has officially commented on reports circulating on certain internet platforms regarding restrictions on drivers from other regions entering the capital. Officials emphasized that these claims are inaccurate, clarifying that the focus is not on bans but on plans to modernize the entry infrastructure of the city.
It was reported that certain entry points are planned to be relocated outside the administrative boundaries of the capital. In their place, modern parking facilities, recreational areas, and convenient connection points to public transportation will be established. At the same time, freedom of choice for drivers will be preserved: those who wish to can enter the city in their personal vehicles, while others may opt to leave their cars at the entry points and continue their journey using public transport.
This approach is based on the globally practiced Park & Ride model. Through this system, the flow of vehicles entering the city center will decrease, reducing traffic congestion. Additionally, air pollution levels will decline, improving urban ecology and enhancing road safety.
Experts have noted that the Park & Ride model also eliminates the hassle of drivers searching for parking spaces in central areas. This contributes to time-saving and the improvement of traffic culture.
The city administration reiterated that the primary goal is to progressively reform the transport system in the capital, increase the share of public transport, and transform Tashkent into a more comfortable and livable metropolis.
