
The Kungrad Salt Free Zone industrial zone will be launched in the Kungrad district of Karakalpakstan. This zone will specialize in processing salt mined from the Barsakelmes deposit.
According to the decision of the head of state, it is planned to attract at least 50 million dollars of investment in 2026, and a total of 200 million dollars in investment by 2030. The first stage of the project will be implemented in 2025–2026, and initial works will begin on a 50-hectare area.
Subsequently, the area of the zone may be expanded to 200 hectares. Entrepreneurs starting operations in the Kungrad Salt Free Zone will be granted the status of a participant of the "Nukus" free economic zone for five years.
This will grant them additional privileges.
