Starting from the beginning of next year, a new state social insurance system will be introduced in Uzbekistan. This is stipulated in a decree by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Citizens will be covered by social insurance on a mandatory and voluntary basis. Mandatory insurance will be implemented at the expense of a portion of income tax.
The amount will be approved annually by the law on the state budget. Voluntary insurance will be implemented by citizens at their own expense.
The minimum monthly insurance premium will be 5 percent of the minimum wage. Insurance payments to citizens will be made in proportion to their minimum insurance period and the contributions paid to the State Social Insurance Fund.
In addition, the proactive form of pension payments will be introduced. From the beginning of 2026, this system will be implemented for payments to pregnant women, and from July 1, for temporary disability benefit payments.
