NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasized that Vladimir Putin is paying a very high price for every small victory he achieves on the front in Ukraine. According to him, Russia's resources are dwindling, and its military power is lacking, BBC reports.
Rutte said at a press conference at a meeting of the "volunteer coalition" in London:
"Putin's aggression is claiming the lives of hundreds of thousands of Russians. And Ukraine is bravely resisting, and our help is yielding results. The truth is that Putin has no money, no soldiers, no ideas left."
According to the NATO leader, the situation at the front indicates that the Russian army is achieving only minor successes at the expense of large losses. This once again demonstrates the ineffectiveness of the strategy of military operations.
At the same time, Rutte supported US President Donald Trump's idea of a temporary cessation of hostilities on the front line. He emphasized that "it's time to increase pressure on Russia to achieve a just peace."
Rutte also positively assessed the decision of the European Union and Canada to allocate additional military aid to Ukraine. "Events on the battlefield show that the support provided to Ukraine is proving beneficial. We must not stop on this path," the NATO Secretary General said.
This is not the first time he has made such statements. On October 16, he stated that NATO countries are significantly superior to Russia economically and militarily.
"We are twenty-five times larger than Russia. The total economy of NATO countries reaches 50 trillion dollars, while Russia's is only two trillion. "This is at the same level as the economy of the state of Texas," he said.
Mark Rutte emphasized that Western countries should not overestimate Russia's potential. "Moscow seems strong, but its capabilities are limited. If we unite and help Ukraine towards a common goal, we can put an end to this conflict," he said.
