
An earthquake that occurred overnight in Afghanistan damaged the transmission lines supplying electricity from Uzbekistan. As a result, Kabul and several provinces were left without electricity.
According to Pajhwok news agency, technical teams have started repair work. According to information from the DABS energy company, transmission lines from Tajikistan were also damaged.
This caused interruptions in electricity supply in several northern provinces. Later, the company announced that electricity transmission from Tajikistan had been restored.
The earthquake that took place on the night of November 3 affected the provinces of Samangan, Balkh, Kabul, Baghlan, Sari-Pul, and Kunduz. The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Khulom district of Balkh province.
Destruction and human casualties were recorded in Samangan and Balkh. According to the Ministry of Health of Afghanistan, at least 20 people were killed and 320 were injured.
