SpaceX founder and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has reached a new pinnacle in human history as the first person whose wealth has exceeded $700 billion. This was reported by the prominent publication Forbes. The latest financial milestone was formalized following an important ruling by the Delaware court.
Specifically, a lower court's decision, which had previously excluded certain Tesla stock options from Musk's assets, was overturned. As a result, this stock package was once again recognized as part of Musk's holdings. Currently, the value of these stocks is estimated at $139 billion.
According to Forbes calculations, following this ruling, Musk's total wealth has reached $749 billion. Interestingly, just five days earlier, on December 15, he had crossed the $600 billion mark, being the first person in history to achieve such a feat.
Previously, in October of this year, Musk made history as the first person whose wealth reached $500 billion. These growth rates clearly illustrate how rapidly the value of his assets has been increasing.
For context, in 2021, Elon Musk topped Forbes' list of the richest people in the world, surpassing Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. At that time, the magazine estimated his wealth at $271.3 billion.
Since then, the figures have risen steadily: in November 2021 — $300 billion, in December 2024 — $400 billion. According to Forbes' projections, if the current trend continues, Elon Musk could become the world's first trillionaire by March 2033.
