Russia accuses three Uzbek prisoners of planning a terrorist attack

The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia reported the prevention of a planned terrorist act in one of the penal colonies in the Rostov region. This was reported by the RIA Novosti agency.

According to the service, the suspects are three citizens of Uzbekistan, who were serving sentences for serious crimes. The Russian side claims that the suspects are supporters of the terrorist organization ISIS (ISIS), banned in Russia and several other countries.

According to the FSB statement, the prisoners planned to take prison staff hostage and set fire to the buildings in the colony. They developed a detailed action plan in this regard, but did not manage to implement it.

During the search, sharp knives with terrorist symbols and pieces of fabric were found near the suspects. Russian security services are linking these items to a planned attack.

So far, the official response of the Uzbek side to this situation has not been announced. The investigation is ongoing, the guilt of the suspects is expected to be established through the court.
