Lukashenko Expresses Willingness to See Uzbekistan Join EAEU

Lukashenko: We would be glad to see Uzbekistan in the EAEU
The member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) would gladly welcome Uzbekistan as a full member of the union, said Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. His comments were reported by the TASS news agency.

Speaking at a high-level meeting of the Eurasian Economic Council, Lukashenko emphasized that Uzbekistan is moving toward deeper integration with the EAEU and is taking consistent steps in this direction.

"You are moving in this direction, and a lot of work is being done in this regard. But it would be wonderful if Uzbekistan were part of our family. We always welcome you with great pleasure,” he said.

Tashkent gained observer state status in the EAEU in December 2020. By 2024, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the economic bloc reached $17.5 billion.

Of this figure, $5.8 billion accounted for exports, while $11.6 billion represented imports.
