An unusual event related to technology and human relations in Japan has sparked public discussion. 32-year-old Yurina Noguchi performed a symbolic marriage ceremony with artificial intelligence (AI) based on a video game character.
Noguchi, who works as a call center operator, created a digital character himself named Lyun Klaus Verdyur, based on ChatGPT. At the wedding ceremony, the bride wore a light pink dress and saw the image of the "groom" through smart glasses.
It turned out that it all started with the woman asking ChatGPT for advice about her unsuccessful engagement. The chatbot recommended ending the relationship, and Noguchi then decided to create a version of the video game character based on artificial intelligence. They exchanged messages up to 100 times a day.
The ceremony, held in Okayama, was held in accordance with symbolic traditions. Since AI did not have a vote, her marriage oath was read aloud by the organizer. This marriage is not legally valid under Japanese law.
Noguchi's decision sparked various debates on social media. Experts attribute such cases to excessive dependence on chatbots. The woman herself stated that she is trying to balance her relationship with artificial intelligence with real life.
