Significant negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine, held in Miami, USA, remain under international scrutiny. During these discussions involving representatives from the U.S., Europe, and Ukraine, Russia has offered its first reaction to the proposals presented.
Kremlin: "Many proposals are not acceptable to us"
The Assistant to the Russian President, Yury Ushakov, stated that much of the peace plan formulated following the Miami talks is challenging for Moscow to accept. He emphasized that Russia remains committed to previous agreements, including those reached in Anchorage.
"Kirill Dmitriev is currently in Miami and is receiving certain signals from American and European partners. We will carefully review these proposals, but I can already say that many of them may fundamentally contradict Moscow’s position," said Ushakov.
Ukraine and the U.S.: "Constructive dialogue"
Rustem Umerov, who led the Ukrainian delegation in Miami, evaluated the negotiations positively. According to him, discussions focused on four main areas:
1. Donald Trump's 20-point peace plan;
2. Multilateral security guarantees;
3. A bilateral security agreement between the U.S. and Ukraine;
4. A strategy for Ukraine’s economic reconstruction.
The U.S. was represented by Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner. Witkoff described his meetings with Kirill Dmitriev as "productive," commending Russia’s efforts toward achieving peace.
Next step: Report to Putin
Russia's special envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, is expected to return to Moscow on December 22 to provide a personal report on the negotiations to Vladimir Putin. Following this, the Kremlin will announce its final decision regarding Trump's peace plan.
Experts believe that coordinating the strategic approaches of the U.S. and Europe represents the most complex yet decisive step toward ending the conflict in Ukraine.
Do you think Trump's 20-point plan could truly stop the war between Ukraine and Russia?
