Case of Uzbek national’s death in Khabarovsk placed under diplomatic oversight

It was reported that the incident related to the death of an Uzbek citizen in the city of Khabarovsk has been taken under the supervision of Uzbekistan’s Consulate General in Vladivostok and the Migration Agency. According to the Foreign Ministry’s press service, the diplomatic mission in Russia remains in постоян contact with the deceased’s relatives and is providing the necessary assistance.

Arrangements are also being made to repatriate the body to Uzbekistan. The Foreign Ministry noted that there is currently no officially confirmed information on the cause of death, and that additional details will be provided to the public as soon as accurate information is received from the competent authorities.

The Consulate General has sent inquiries to Russian law enforcement agencies and the Russian Foreign Ministry to investigate the case. Earlier, social media reports claimed that OMON officers beat two Uzbek nationals, leaving them in a coma. The agency said the information regarding the second citizen has not been confirmed.
