The most active mahallas will be supported by the state

Starting from 2026, a new and important system will be introduced in the life of mahallas. The country will launch the “Best Taxpaying Mahalla” nomination, creating additional opportunities to boost local economic activity and further improve neighborhoods.

Under the new procedure, each year the top 100 mahallas with the highest results in this ranking will receive financial support from the State Budget—2 billion soums for each. These funds will be allocated based on the mahalla’s economic activity and tax discipline.

How the allocated funds will be used will be determined by a decision of the citizens’ assembly council. In particular, these resources will be directed to repairing internal roads, improving electricity supply, upgrading lighting systems, restoring engineering networks, and comprehensively developing mahalla infrastructure.

Experts believe this initiative will strengthen healthy competition among mahallas and, along with improving the culture of paying taxes, will also help enhance residents’ living conditions. After all, a mahalla’s economic activity directly affects its development and the well-being of its people.

In short, the “Best Taxpaying Mahalla” nomination is seen as another important step toward developing mahallas, improving local infrastructure, and supporting citizens’ initiatives.
