The draft “Uzbekistan–2030” Strategy sets out clear, targeted plans to fundamentally strengthen the country’s inbound and domestic tourism potential. The document envisions a significant increase in tourist arrivals by creating favorable conditions, expanding infrastructure, and actively engaging the private sector.
According to the draft, 20 modern tourism clusters are planned nationwide through private investment. These clusters will play an important role in accelerating regional development, creating new jobs, and supporting local economies. In addition, the construction of 4,000 new hotels, guesthouses, and hostels in various formats will multiply accommodation capacity for visitors.
To further enhance tourism infrastructure, 25 cable cars are planned in mountainous areas. This initiative is expected to increase interest in ecotourism and adventure travel. The number of tourism neighborhoods, villages, and special streets is also set to reach 175 to create an attractive environment for tourists across the regions.
The strategy also prioritizes raising tourism services exports to $6 billion and increasing annual exports to $1.5 billion through medical and education tourism. In addition, it plans to regularly stage theatrical cultural and entertainment shows at cultural heritage sites and tourist destinations, attracting at least 100,000 spectator-tourists each year.
Overall, these plans outlined in the “Uzbekistan–2030” Strategy are expected to take the tourism sector to a new level, strengthen the country’s international tourism image, and expand export potential.
