In order to circumvent the financial restrictions imposed by the West, Iran is promoting an initiative to sell advanced military equipment and weapons to foreign countries in exchange for cryptocurrency.
According to The Financial Times, this refers to strategically important weapons systems such as ballistic missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and warships.
It was reported that the Mindex Export Operations Center under the Iranian Ministry of Defense is ready to discuss the possibility of accepting payments through digital assets, as well as barter agreements and settlements in the national currency - riyal.
According to the publication's analysis, this proposal is considered one of the first open steps by the state aimed at officially accepting cryptocurrency for military exports.
Mindex presented itself as the organization responsible for Iran's foreign defense trade, stating that it cooperates with 35 countries. The catalog includes Emad ballistic missiles, Shahed drones, Shahed Soleimani warships, and short-range air defense systems.
