Tensions between Iran and US rise around the Strait of Hormuz

Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, strongly condemned the threats made by US President Donald Trump against his country, calling them baseless and empty. In his social media statement, Larijani urged the American leader to be cautious and emphasized that no force can break the Iranian people. According to him, the Iranian side is not afraid of Washington's empty threats and, on the contrary, warned Trump that he himself could be in danger.
This diplomatic conflict escalated after Donald Trump's statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz. The US President stated that if Iran attempts to stop the flow of oil in this vital maritime corridor, the consequences for Tehran would be severe, and they would suffer 20 times more damage than before. The Strait of Hormuz is the only strategic route for oil exports for Persian Gulf countries.
The situation further complicated after reports of a military operation launched by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28, 2025. In response to these military actions, the Tehran government announced a complete ban on ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. This decision is causing great concern in the international oil market, as this region plays a decisive role in global energy supply. Currently, the escalating rhetoric between the parties is increasing the risk of new military clashes in the region.
