Fisherman Found Alive After Spending 5 Days in Open Sea

One of four fishermen who set out near Venezuela’s Margarita Island was rescued alive five days after their boat sank.
According to preliminary reports, the fisherman spent several days stranded in open water in the Caribbean Sea. He managed to survive without food or drinking water. Rescuers described his ability to endure such harsh conditions for several days as remarkable.
Sadly, the fate of the other three fishermen who were with him at the time of the incident remains unknown. Search efforts to find them are continuing.
The waters around Margarita Island are part of the Caribbean Sea and are regularly used by fishermen. Being stranded in the open sea for a long time poses a serious threat to life due to dehydration, exhaustion and other dangers.
