Illegal use of forest lands identified in Surkhandarya

Violations of environmental legislation were identified during inspections conducted in the territory of the “Bobotog‘” state forestry enterprise in Surkhandarya region.
Inspections carried out jointly by the Regional General Department of Ecology and Climate Change and other responsible organizations found that some residents of the Uzun, Denov and Sariosiyo districts were grazing more livestock than permitted under the contracts concluded for the use of forest pastures.
In particular, in Sariosiyo district, one individual was found to be using state forest fund land without any authorization and grazing 508 sheep and 248 goats.
Overall, the inspection recorded 1,854 sheep and 667 adult goats being grazed in excess of the established limits or without the relevant authorization. According to experts, this caused damage to the flora amounting to 290 million 171 thousand 600 soums.
