Hundreds of thousands of Hyundai Tucson vehicles braking automatically due to software error

Hyundai has announced a recall of approximately 421,000 vehicles in the US due to a software error. This defect can cause the vehicle to brake unexpectedly without driver intervention. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

The issue is related to a fault in the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system. Due to a software glitch in the front cameras, the system may receive false signals and trigger the braking system abruptly even when there are no obstacles on the road. This significantly increases the risk of accidents.

This service campaign covers the Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup, as well as the Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, and Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid crossovers. The defect has been observed primarily in models produced between 2022 and 2024.

Hyundai dealers will update the vehicle software free of charge to resolve the identified issue. Vehicle owners are advised to contact authorized service centers.
