Messi fined by MLS

Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has been punished by the MLS Disciplinary Committee for his actions during a league match. The league's disciplinary committee announced the decision.

The incident occurred during stoppage time in the second half of the match between Inter Miami and Philadelphia Union, which ended in a 2–2 draw.

Messi got into an argument with Philadelphia midfielder Quinn Sullivan. During the dispute, the Argentine touched his opponent's neck with his hand.

MLS rules prohibit a player from touching an opponent's face, head or neck with their hand. As a result, the Disciplinary Committee fined Messi.

However, the amount of the fine has not been disclosed. Since Messi was not suspended, he can play in Inter Miami's next match.
